First Aid for Teachers on Handling with Incidents of Sexual Harassment
Students are increasingly turning to lecturers with questions and concerns relating to sexual harassment. On the one hand, this is a positive development, as it shows that lecturers are seen as trusted figures and that those affected by sexual harassment are seeking help. On the other hand, lecturers are often unprepared for such situations and are therefore, understandably, unsure of how to respond.
On the initiative of the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Students and the AKG, a working group – coordinated by the Office for Equality and Gender Studies – has therefore produced a brief guide entitled ‘ “First aid for teachers on dealing with incidents of sexual harassment” ’, which, as the name suggests, offers lecturers some concise and, where possible, practical recommendations on how to deal with this challenge. In addition, a ‘ Collection of FAQs ’ has been launched, which is to be continuously expanded. We hope that this will provide you with support in the situations described.
