Comfort ventilation systems with heat recovery should be realised as energy-efficiently and compactly as possible, especially in the area of refurbishment as they were not included in the original building planning. The combination of fan and heat exchanger in a single component makes it possible to fulfil both requirements. However, systems of this type currently available on the market show limited fluid mechanical and thermal efficiency (< 50% heat recovery).
The aim of the research project is to develop a new concept to increase the fluid mechanical and thermal efficiency (> 80% heat recovery). By creating a functional model, the physical potential is to be demonstrated and the broad application in building refurbishment made possible.
