Under the coordination of the European Academy of Bolzano (EURAC), a total of 23 partners from various European countries are developing solutions for increasing energy efficiency in historic buildings in cities. The interdisciplinary team is not only looking at the climate-related aspects and the comfort of living and utilisation, but above all also at the protection of historical monuments. In addition to the partners for research and development, building owners and the local heritage protection authorities are also involved. In Innsbruck, the team is made up of researchers from the University of Innsbruck (UIBK, Energy Efficient Building Unit), the "Bartenbach Lichtlabor" BLL, the Innsbrucker Immobiliengesellschaft (IIG) and the Tyrolean State Conservation Office of the Federal Monuments Office. The common goal is the exemplary refurbishment of the Höttinger Hauptschule building on Fürstenweg, which was built in 1929-31 by architect Franz Baumann.
