Hossam Haick

Prof. Hossam Haick is a Full Professor and Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He is internationally renowned for his work in nanotechnology, chemical sensors, and non-invasive diagnostics, especially in breath analysis, AI-integrated wearable devices, and electronic skin for health and environmental monitoring. He has authored over 420 peer-reviewed articles, holds more than 60 patents (many licensed internationally), and co-founded five startups translating cutting-edge science into real-world applications. His H-index is 94, and he is the author of two influential books: Nature-Inspired Sensors (Elsevier, 2024) and Volatile Biomarkers for Human Health (RSC, 2022).
Prof. Haick has received more than 87 international awards and recognitions, including the MRS Impact Award, the Humboldt Senior Research Award, the Michael Bruno Prize, and the Knight of the Order of Academic Palms (France). He has been ranked in over 50 prestigious lists, including MIT Technology Review’s “Top 35 Young Innovators” and global “Top 100 Innovators” (2015–2018).
In education, Prof. Haick is widely recognized for creating one of the first MOOCs on Nanotechnology and Nanosensors—offered in English and Arabic—which has reached over 1 million learners in 87 countries. As Dean, he leads transformative reforms in STEM education through initiatives like “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Undergraduate Studies,” which has influenced curricula both nationally and internationally.
Prof. Haick also coordinates large EU consortia and clinical studies in breath diagnostics across 40+ global centers, impacting healthcare worldwide.
