Stamatia Christodoulaki

Stamatia (Maya) Christodoulaki is a research assistant at the Institute of Architectural Theory of the University of Innsbruck and a Ph.D Candidate at TU Wien, at the Chair of Prof. Bühlmann Architectural Theory and Philosophy of Technics. She is also a practicing architect alongside Architect Mario Ramoni on a range of projects, among which is the new Druckwerk (printing facilities) of Land Tirol in Innsbruck and a Cemetery for Kappl. Initially, Maya studied Computer Science at the University of Crete and later received her Diploma in Architecture from the University of Innsbruck. During her studies, Maya worked for the Institute of Architectural Theory as a research tutor. She assisted Prof. Lootsma at the exhibition Radical Austria-Everything is Architecture (Design Museum Den Bosch, 2021) by researching the ORF Film Archive on the public perception of the Austrian Avant-garde. She worked as an architectural designer for UNStudio in Amsterdam on the project of Oosterdokseiland. Her research interest revolves around the texts and images of Artificial Intelligence in Architecture seen through rhetorics and authority, the vernacular and the commonplace, myth-making and coding, extractivism and plasticity. Her latest contribution on the subject is The canvassed opinions in Frankenstein, published in dixit algorizmi: the garden of knowledge by Humboldt Books, edited by Space Caviar and Sheida Ghomashchi for the 2022 Uzbekistan Pavillion of the Venice Art Biennale.
