Architekturtheorie_2 widmet sich mit den politischen, ideologischen, künstlerischen und philosophischen Zusammenhängen von Architektur, Städtebau und Landschaft vom späten 19. Jahrhundert bis in die Zwischenkriegszeit. Im Zentrum der Betrachtungen steht das Thema Reform, d. h. das Bestreben von Architekt*innen und anderen Teilnehmer*innen an soziokulturellen Diskursen, Verbesserungen an und in unseren (gebauten) Lebenswelten einzuleiten.
Otto Neurath (1882–1945) ist eine der Hauptfiguren des heurigen Wintersemesters. Über den bekannten Volksbildner, Ökonomen, Philosophen und Stadtplaner wird im Rahmen eines Gastvortrags am 20.11.2023 auch Prof. John O'Neill von der Universität Manchester sprechen. John O'Neill besucht in diesem Herbst als BritInn Fellow die Universität Innsbruck. Der Titel seines Vortrags lautet „Neurath in Manchester: planning, participation and human well-being“.
 

In Architectural Theory_2, students learn about the political, ideological, artistic and philosophical contexts of architecture, urban planning and landscape from the late 19th century to the interwar period. The focus is on the topic of reform, i.e. the efforts of architects and other participants in socio-cultural discourses to introduce improvements to and in our (built) living environments.
The main protagonist of this winter semester will be Otto Neurath (1882-1945). Prof. John O'Neill from the University of Manchester will speak about the well-known public educator, economist, philosopher and urban planner in a guest lecture on 20.11.2023. John O'Neill is BritInn Fellow at the University of Innsbruck this fall. Title of his lecture: "Neurath in Manchester: planning, participation and human well-being".
