Open Access at the University of Innsbruck

The publishing of scientific findings is the central concern of all researchers. Only through the publishing of research results does scientific work become visible to the scientific community.

Open access offers a new form of publishing to researchers besides the traditional way of publishing in print media.

„By 'open access' to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.“

Many research institutions as well as numerous funding agencies support the idea of open access and encourage researchers to make their results available for Open Access.

Training: Open Access Publishing - services, funding, counselling

Open access - unrestricted and free access to scientific literature - is a current and forward-looking topic. What services, funding options and counselling services are available at the university? How can the legal framework be dealt with? What aspects of open access publishing need to be considered in particular? These and similar questions will be dealt with during the course. We are also happy to come to your department for information events and/or to advise you on an individual basis.
