MIP Faculty Alumni Event celebrated its brilliant premiere

For the first time, the "MIP Faculty Alumni Event" took place on Friday, October 13, 2023. We were thrilled to celebrate the graduates of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. At the beginning of the occasion, the Dean of Studies, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Franosch, spoke warmly and expressed his gratitude towards the faculty for their solidarity and loyalty. He invited everyone to celebrate this momentous occasion in a relaxed and informal atmosphere with white sausage and beer during a cozy get-together. Univ. Prof. Dr. Ruth Breu also extended a warm welcome to the graduates and introduced the keynote speaker, Hansjörg Haller, as a successful graduate of our faculty.

A success story from the lecture hall

The CEO at InfPro IT Solutions GmbH took us on a journey into the past with his inspiring keynote speech. He began as a computer science student with us at the faculty and referred to the bond with his Alma Mater. He showed us the development of his company, Translogica. He highlighted the connections between course content and the real world, and reflected on the time of his bachelor's thesis with his advisor, Univ. Prof. Dr. Ruth Breu of the Department of Computer Science. And that's not all! It's great to see that Haller founded the first Academic Spin-Off of the Institute of Computer Science and still maintains close contact with his alma mater.

But that was just the start

The fantastic performance of the band "The Non Abelian Group" was a rousing surprise. With 'Grade me' and 'Der letzte Antritt', the 'Non Abelian Group' managed to thrill the audience, and we hope it won't be the last time. The 'MIP Faculty Alumni Event' ended on a high note with a social gathering on the forecourt of the Viktor Franz Hess House. We enjoyed sausages and beer while reminiscing about old times at our Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics. The planning for a repetition next year is already in full swing and we can't wait to welcome all our alumni again and celebrate them!
