Curriculum Vitae

Stefan Thalmann, born 1980 in Stendal and received his Diploma in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg in March 2006. During his studies he worked as trainee for Terra-Media and for the Knowledge Management Department of the INA SCHAEFFLER KG. During 1998 to 2002 he worked for the german military geographic service and was occupied with surveying and mapping. His diploma thesis was awarded with the “Deutscher Nachwuchspreis Wissensmanagement” as best thesis in the field in 2006.

From April 2006 to March 2007, he was research assistant at the chair in MIS at the Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg. Since March 2007 he has been research assistant at the institute for management information systems at the University of Innsbruck. His research interests include decision support for adaptive content preparation, collaborative annotation of knowledge resources, knowledge maturity and implications for design of adaptive learning material, design of adaptive learning material, situation-oriented provision of learning material, on demand e-learning and knowledge management in the context of business processes.

He successfully completed the Doctoral programme in Social and Economic Sciences in April 2011. The title of his Ph.D.-thesis is “Decision Support Framework for Selecting Techniques to Prepare Knowledge Elements for Adaptive Use” and was supervised by Prof. Dr. Ronald Maier as first supervisor and Prof. Dr. Jan Pawlowski as second supervisor.

He was a visiting researcher at the Learning Technology Research Institute of the London Metropolitan University (UK) and at the Information Technology Research Institute of the University of Jyväskylä (Finland).
