Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics

Cavity Quantum E-Dyn.

CQED Theory

Welcome to Prof. Ritsch's CQED group!

Based in Innsbruck, Austria in midst of the beautiful Tyrolean alps, Prof. Helmut Ritsch's theory group has been working on Quantum Optics and Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics since 1993. In essence, our work contributes to a better understanding of the interaction between light and matter. Our main research interests are Self-Organization, Cavity Cooling, Superradiant Lasing and Quantum Metrology.

Currently, the group features two PostDocs and seven graduate students.

Jan 2017: Claudiu Genes leaves for MPI Erlangen

Claudiu Genes leaves our orup to head his own research group at the Max Planck Institute in Erlangen.

Mar 2017: Francesco Piazza becomes professor

Francesco Piazza will leave our group to become professor at the Max Planck Institute in Dresden.

General

Our research covers the fields of quantum optics and ultracold gas physics.

Research topics

Active research in our group is conducted on Cavity Cooling, Self-Organization, Superradiant Lasing and Quantum Metrology as well as developing an in-house framework for numerical simulations.
