As Artificial Intelligence is more seamlessly woven into society, we can ask: Does it expand access and democracy or quietly reproduce old hierarchies of knowledge and power? This workshop moves beyond the hype of AI productivity and offers a critical perspective on Automated Inequality. It traces how data, design choices, and optimization goals shapesystemic bias, combining social reflection with technical insight to understand where and how inequality enters automated systems. To navigate the real-world applications and implicationsof different automated systems, we will look into different degrees of capabilities (what works, what is experimental, and where automation consistently fails or should be restricted). Together, we will examine the various impacts of automated systems and dive into fairness assessment, bias detection, and mitigation strategies. You are invited to bring your own experiences and questions to build a shared vocabulary for critical, responsible andtransparent AI in research.
