Conventions@Work
Navigating Uncertainty and Transformation in Contemporary Workplaces
Continuing the tradition of bringing together scholars working with the Economics and Sociology of Conventions (EC/SC), the workshop Conventions@Work provides a forum for presenting and discussing ongoing research, exchanging theoretical and methodological perspectives, and exploring new developments and applications of the conventions approach across different fields of inquiry.
At the center of this year‘s workshop is the theme of „work“ in all its facets. We particularly invite contributions that examine how work processes, employment arrangements, and human resource management practices are transformed by new technological developments (such as AI and algorithms), ecological transitions, or flexible project structures. Given that the value and organization of work are shaped by everyday negotiations, justifications, and conflicts, a dialogue between EC/SC theoretical developments, empirical research, and practical applications can be fruitful for advancing our understanding of work in transition.
The workshop will feature paper presentations, panel and plenary discussions, and opportunities for informal exchange. In keeping with the workshop‘s tradition, we particularly encourage the presentation of work in progress and welcome contributions from both established and early-career researchers.
