InnSAR Last minute information

Please note the following information, which basically has been provided by email and might be updated again.

New name of our institute

Meanwhile the "Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics" (IMGI) has recently changed its name to "Institute of Atmospheric Cryospheric Sciences". Thus, please be not worried when occasionally mentioning the new association.

Program

A more detailed program can now be downloaded here.

Excursion

The excursion will lead us to Stubaier Gletscher i.e. a glacier skiing resort in fact. Therefore, please take along some appropriate equipment as we will be outside all day long also during bad weather and at rather high elevations. So please take care of appropriate clothing (warm, withstanding rain), boots (hard soles), sun protection cream and glasses and a rucksack. You will be provided a lunch bag. We will guide you through an ice cave and several demonstration experimental sites at the glacier. The exact program will be announced during the summer school and depends on e.g. weather conditions, of course. The excursion will be in common with participants of another Summer School (http://www.micmor.kit.edu/summer-schools). We will meet them the day before and planned for a common dinner and evening program.

Lecture notes and laptops

Lecture notes and supporting material will be provided soon. You will then be notified about a corresponding repository.

There will be student projects in which context you will perform own analyses of data. We will provide Matlab scripts (which normally can quite easily be adopted to R) in order to effectively process the data. Please take along your laptop which ideally is prepared accordingly. We can provide some laptops to those having none at hand or being used to other programming environments. Three or two of you will work together then, which may alleviate individual problems with that respect, too.

Introduce yourself

Please prepare for a short introduction of yourself and your current work in order to get familiar to each other (3 minute presentations scheduled Sun 23).

Meals

Lunch and dinner will be in the form of a (warm) buffet offering a variety of food and we think that such normally can satisfy individual preferences concerning meat, fish, vegetarian etc. If, however, you had very special issues to be considered, please send an email to innsar@uibk.ac.at and we will take care as far as possible.

Traveling

Travelling from Innsbruck to Grillhof: I here remind to the information on the website and attach some related documents that may help you with this respect as well. I will later provide you an "emergency" phone number which will allow you to contact us in case of unexpected problems.

Check in at Grillhof

Please note that reception i.e. check in at Grillhof will open on Sat 22August, 1pm. Your then may also clarify individual issues.

Please watch the website and your email for further information.

We are thus looking forward to meet you then and wish you a pleasant travelling to Innsbruck.
