Adopting digital tools and online spaces as part of one’s “research workflow” can present scholars with political, ethical and methodological dilemmas. By engaging in reflexive practice, we can keep the consequences of our technological choices at the forefront of our research process. In this lecture, Dr. Paulus will present a model for creating digital research workflows that includes staying engaged with these potential consequences. She will illustrate how this model can be used to create a paperless literature review workflow, identify relevant digital data sources, integrate AI and voice recognition technologies into transcription practices, and innovate ways to represent research findings. These examples can help the audience consider how digital tools and spaces are transforming research outcomes in complex ways.
