Agricultural intensification and aphid-parasitoid food websZhengpei Ye, Ines Vollhardt* & Michael Traugott
Changes in agroecosystem management affect the natural control of pests, but these effects are not universal and their mechanisms remain to be understood. As biological control is the product of networks of interactions, food web analysis provides a versatile tool to address this gap of knowledge. Here we will use a molecular food web approach to examine how changes in plant fertilisation and landscape complexity affect quantitative cereal aphid-parasitoid-hyperparasitoid food webs on a species-specific level. We expect that this work will provide a clearer understanding of how changes in agricultural management affect parasitoid communities and their ability to control aphids.
