1st announcement, 9th International Macrostomum Meeting
Mail from May 22nd, 2015

Dear Macrostomum Researchers and Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the "9th International Macrostomum Meeting" (9th IMM) will take place in Innsbruck from the evening of Friday, 27.11.2015 at 18:00 to the evening of Sunday, 29.11.2014 until around 16:00h.

Meeting address:

University of Innsbruck
Institute of Zoology
Technikerstrasse 25
6020 Innsbruck

Everybody interested in macrostomid species is welcome to join or contribute with talks or posters. In the past meetings, topics comprised aging, development, genomics, genome editing, transcriptomics, transgenesis, regeneration, neurobiology, ecotoxicology, morphology, systematics, phylogenetics, and sexual selection.

It is the goal of the meeting to update on the progress in Macrostomum research, establish contacts, and exchange of methods and tools.

Along the line of earlier Macrostomum Meetings we will keep the organization and the meeting itself as simple and cheap as possible, and we therefore expect everyone to cover their own expenses. We will collect a small fee (50 Euros) from each participant during the meeting to cover food and drinks (conference dinner included).

Direct flights to Innsbruck are usually expensive but very close to the meeting venue. In case, please also consider flying to Munich which is about 2 hours from Innsbruck - there is e.g. a Shuttle service (a 8-seater minibus) that would drop you at the respective address in Innsbruck (the Shuttle costs EURO 49,00 one way) - see Four Season Travel: (https://www.tirol-taxi.at/en-munich-airport). The cheapest option from Munich Airport to Innsbruck (a 3 hrs ride for around EURO 13) would be a regular bus service: see http://meinfernbus.de/en.

There is no arrangement with Hotels. You can use the Hotel search at the website of the Tourism Service: http://www.innsbruck.info/en/your-stay/hotelrooms.html.

There is a Youth Hostel (http://www.youth-hostel-innsbruck.at/english/index.html). We often have guests at the Hotel Engl (http://www.hotel-engl.at/), Hotel Kranebitter Hof (a bit off the city centre but 15 min. walk from the University Campus; http://www.kranebitterhof.at/de/hotel-de), or Hotel Mondschein (http://www.mondschein.at/en/home.html). It will already be Christmas Market time so Hotels get booked soon for weekends.

More information on talks and poster presentations, local transport, diet requirement request, will be sent out in mid-September.

Please let us know if we should add any people on our mailing list (or if you would like to have your name removed - see list of people at the end of the mail) and forward this mail to interested colleagues or research groups.

Hopefully see you in Innsbruck,

Peter Ladurner (peter.ladurner@uibk.ac.at) Birgit Lengerer Robert Pjeta Marcelo Rodrigues Julia Wunderer
