Steffen Zimmermann

Curriculum vitae:

Steffen Zimmermann was born in 1976 and studied Business Administration at the University of Augsburg in the specialized fields of Information Systems, Financial Engineering and Economics of the Information Society. After his studies, he was research assistant at the Department of Information Systems Engineering & Financial Management of Prof. Dr. H. U. Buhl and received his doctor's degree in February 2008 at the theme of "Value based IT Portfolio Management". During this time, he was leader of a research group and he applied successfully for a publicly funded fundamental research project called "IT Portfolio Management" at the German Research Foundation. Parallel, he conducted ‑ partially as project manager - several applied privately funded research projects (e.g. at MLP AG and WestLB AG). Since March 2009, he works at the Department of Information Systems, Production and Logistics Management at the University of Innsbruck. Thereby, he successfully applied for a publicly funded fundamental research project called "IT-Investment-Portfolio-Management" at the FWF Austrian Science Fund. One article out of this project was distinguished by the research award of the principality of Liechtenstein 2013. Since August 2011, he is Visiting Professor at the Management Information Systems Department of Barrie Nault at the University of Calgary where he established a research project on the topic of Internet Econimics. This project was distinguished by the Canada Award for young researchers in 2013. He finished his Habailitation in March 2013 and is Associate Professor in the area Information Systems II since June 2014.

Steffen Zimmermann serves as a reviewer, associate editor, and track chair for international conferences such as International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS). He has published several articles in a number of international research journals as for example DATA BASE for Advances in Information Systems or Business and Information Systems Engineering. Moreover, he presented his research at international conferences such as International Conference on Business Informatics (Internationale Tagung Wirtschaftsinformatik), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) and International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS).
