General terms and conditions, in particular payment and cancellation conditions for Continuing Education Programmes at the University of Innsbruck 

1. Applicability

Unless otherwise expressly agreed, these General Terms and Conditions apply to all Continuing Education Programmes offered by the University of Innsbruck.

2. Registration

Registration for Continuing Education Programmes at the University of Innsbruck takes place within the registration period in writing or online resp. and is binding. The number of places is limited. Registrations will be ranked according to the date of entry – after checking the registration requirements according to the curriculum. After successful registration, participants will immediately get registration confirmation by e-mail.

The decision on the admission of applicants is made by the scientific management. Participants who have been admitted to the Continuing Education Programme and have paid the course fee are admitted as non-degree programme students at the University of Innsbruck by the rectorate.

There is a minimum number of participants for all Continuing Education Programmes. Only if the minimum number is achieved, the Continuing Education Programmes take place (see no. 5).

3. Programme fee and payment conditions

The programme fee is shown separately for each Continuing Education Programme. Payment is made in instalments per semester. The first instalment of the programme fee must be made within 7 days of receipt of the request for payment to the specified account of the Division of Continuing Education. All further instalments are also always payable 7 days after receipt of the payment request. Any additional services are described in the respective description of the Continuing Education Programmes. The programme fees are free of VAT.

4. Cancellation conditions

In case of prevention, written or online cancellation is required. From the time of the admission, 25% of the first instalment are charged as cancellation fee. Up to one week before the start of the programme, cancellation fees of 50% of the first instalment will incur. Afterwards and in case of a now-show at the start of the programme the full programme fee will be charged. A substitute participant will be accepted upon fulfilment of the registration requirements without additional costs.

5. Cancellation of Continuing Education Programmes /
courses/ absence of individual lecturers / exclusion

The University reserves the right to cancel individual Continuing Education Programmes if the required minimum number of participants is not reached or Covid-19 provisions do not allow the programme to be implemented. In this case, the already paid programme fee will be refunded in full immediately. Also cancellation fees will be refunded in the event of cancellation.

No reimbursement of the course fee will be made to students who cancel the Continuing Education Programme prematurely for reasons that lie within their area. The same applies to students who are excluded from a programme due to disregard of essential regulations (e.g. serious or repeated violations of the house rules, Covid-19 safety regulations or good scientific practice). There is no refund for parts of the programme fee  in the event of a replacement of a course lecturer. A refund of parts of the fee for the continuing education programme is also excluded if there are minor changes (such as change in date or location, partial changeover to virtual lectures) that are factually justified. If dates are postponed during the current semester, no reimbursement can be made for expenses incurred (e.g. travel expenses, parking fees, costs for lost time) if these are not due to intent or gross negligence on the part of the University of Innsbruck or the lecturer.

6. Certificate and notice or certification document resp.

Graduates of a Continuing Education Programme will get a certificate and a notice or a certification document resp.

7. Data privacy

By registering for a Continuing Education Programme in Innsbruck, participants accept the generally valid version of the Data Privacy Statement of the University of Innsbruck https://www.uibk.ac.at/datenschutz/.

8. Liability

In the case of theft, loss or damage of objects brought to the University Course, in particular valuables, the University of Innsbruck assumes no liability, unless gross negligence can be attributed to it. A repeated or serious violation of the house and usage rules of the University of Innsbruck, which justify a house ban, leads to the exclusion from further participation in the continuing education programme. In this case, the programme fee will not be reimbursed, not even on a pro ratio basis.
