Content

The Continuing Education Programme in Library and Information Studies (MSc) is a practice-orientated professional training in library and information studies with a legal foundation. In consideration of the employment market, the programme takes place every two to three years.

Within the scope of two to four semesters, students gain extensive knowledge in the field of modern library management, in the field of media types and use as well as in indexing of library-related meta data. Instruments and strategies of information retrieval for analysing and evaluating information resources and research results are also part of the curriculum, just as knowledge of and imparting of information services and of technical and legal foundations.

Within the scope of the Master’s continuing education programme a management portfolio is developed, which covers the fields of strategic planning, information and knowledge management and human resource management and development. Trends in business communication are also dealt with just like current changes in the library and information law.

 

Target Group

Persons, who work or want to work in highly-skilled areas in the field of information management, in particular in libraries, information and documentation facilities, archives and other related institutions.  

 

Requirements

  • Passed Continuing Education Programme in Library and Information Studies (Basic Course)
  • For being admitted to the continuing education programme, the successful completion of a study programme at a post-secondary educational institution home or abroad with a minimum of 180 ECTS-Credits is required
