Wolfgang Müller works at Innsbruck University as senior scientist since November 2009.  His responsibilities are the development and execution of research projects as well as lecturing.

Wolfgang Müller has more than 20 years experience in the field of solid waste management. His specialist areas are mechanical and biological waste treatment, covering composting and anaerobic digestion. During the last few years he increasingly foccused on renewable energy issues by means of biomass utilisation. He can draw from the experience of a vast amount of applied waste management projects.

Wolfgang Müller holds a degree in agriculture and environmental sciences. He did his PhD in 1994 in the field of mechanical and biological waste treatment, focusing on parameters used to assess the stability of pre-treated waste before landfilling..

Before he changed to Innsbruck University he  worked in the engineering companies IGW Fricke & Turk GmbH“, and „Pöyry Environment“. His work had a focus on applied research and develoment projects but included also the development of waste management strategies, , environmental monitoring, ecological evaluation (lifecycle assessment, CDM) and engineering services for project development and implementation. His work is widely published.

He started his career with projects in Germany but for the last 10 years has worked increasingly on projects in other countries.
