Waste Treatment and Resource Management


Irene Schneider holds a degree in Environmental Engineering and is research fellow at the Unit of Environmental Engineering of the University of Innsbruck since 2010. Her research areas are waste and resource management with a focus on biological treatment technologies, the management of bioorganic waste and the production of biogas. She is also involved in teaching activities and supervises student research projects.

Irene Schneider studied at the Technical University of Dresden and at the Université Louis Pasteur of Strasbourg in France. The main focus of her studies was waste management, process engineering and contaminated site treatment as well as the treatment of bio-based packaging. After finishing university, Irene Schneider worked as project engineer for the waste management and treatment company Nehlsen International GmbH & Co. KG in Bremen. As project manager she was responsible for the management of a biogas plant as well as the planning of biogas plants and landfills in the international waste management sector.
