Open Access publishing in CUP journals


Since January 2020, a new offer allows members of the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck to publish open access free of charge with Cambridge University Press (CUP). Members of both universities can publish open access in 412 hybrid and gold open access journals of CUP free of charge and have access to about 415 scientific journals.


Which journals can researchers of the universities publish in?

You can publish open access in 412 CUP journals. A title list is available here.


Who can publish open access?

Eligible are authors, who

  • are corresponding authors of the articles and members of the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck
  • use their institutional email address in the process of submission
  • whose article was accepted in a CUP journal
  • are publishing a Research article, Review article, or Rapid Communication

ATTENTION: It is not permitted to retrospectively change the corresponding author after peer review.


Procedure/Verification Process:

Please indicate your affiliation to the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck when submitting the article. The verification of authors' affiliation with universities is done through the indication of the institution and the use of the institutional email domain.
To complete the Open Access "ordering process", you must register once with RightsLink. You can then use your registration details for any further Open Access publication. The affiliation is verified by CUP and the university/University Library. The article is published under a Creative Commons licence.
