Open Access publishing in Cell Press journals

Since January 2022, a new offer allows members of the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck to publish open access free of charge in the hybrid open access journals of Cell Press. Members of both universities can publish open access in journals free of charge. All participating journals are listed here.

The offer applies to articles submitted to Cell Press hybrid journals starting from 1 January 2022. For Cell Press, the relevant date is therefore the submission date and not the acceptance date.

Which journals can researchers of the universities publish in?

You can publish open access in the hybrid journals of Cell Press. A list of all eligible journals is available here.

Who can publish open access?

Eligible are authors, who

  • are submitting corresponding authors of the articles and members of the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck.

On submission, please select your institution from the drop-down menu

  • submit an article to a hybrid journal of Cell Press after 1 January 2022, which will later be accepted
  • are publishing an article of the type full-length article (FLA), review article (REV), or short communication (SCO)

ATTENTION: It is not permitted to retrospectively change the corresponding author after peer review.

Procedure/Verification Process:

Please indicate your affiliation to the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck when submitting the article. Please select your affiliation from the drop-down menu, so Cell Press can assign you correctly! The identification of the affiliation of authors to the universities is based exclusively on the indication of the institution.

After the authorisation through the university library, a license agreement is sent to the author by Cell Press, which must be signed and returned to the publisher - via the author dashboard - together with the selection of the CC license.

FWF projects: the FWF is part of this agreement with Cell Press. The publication costs of articles resulting from a FWF-funded project are settled by the FWF.

Please note: The FWF only funds articles published under the CC-BY licence.
