Library

The department’s library has a wide range of dictionaries, textbooks and reference works as well as scientific literature on translation theory, linguistics and terminology.

The library is affiliated with ALEPH, the academic library association. All works registered from 1988 onwards are available in the online catalogue OPAC.

Reference works may be borrowed for two weeks. There is a fine of EUR 0.15 per day and per book as well as a one-time EUR 1.50 reminder charge. Reference books marked with a red dot, dictionaries and encyclopaedias may only be consulted in the library.

Language Labs and Interpreting Lab

The department’s interpreting lab seats 14 students in 7 booths. Students are free to use a video lab and 5 multimedia PC labs with a total of 130 workstations in the Faculty of Humanities building. TVs, VCRs, video cameras and cassette recorders are all available for training purposes at the Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies.

Students’ Lounge

The students’ lounge has a computer with Internet access and is an ideal facility for students working in teams.


PC Labs

During opening hours, students can make free use of 39 computers with Internet access in the department’s PC lab and library. They may also use the PC labs in the Humanities building, which are equipped with 70 personal computers. Word processing with the latest software, terminology management, access to the department's terminology data base sowie auf Eurodicautom, as well as the latest software in computer-assisted translation integrates modern technology into the course of studies. The department also provides a scanner and a printer for student work in the library.
