About us

The interfaculty research centre Tourism & Leisure is a network and platform for all researchers at the University of Innsbruck. The centre develops joint projects and brings together researchers from different faculties at the University of Innsbruck to advance tourism and leisure research. Since 2015, seven third-party funded projects have already been completed and more are currently being worked on by researchers from six faculties at the University of Innsbruck. In addition, numerous interdisciplinary publications are being written. Research topics include crowdfunding in tourism, the influence of global change (especially climate change) on tourist needs and the resources of destinations, sports events and innovations on the mountain, or family business developments and succession in tourism. The FZ Tourism & Leisure recently founded the new doctoral programme "Tourism and Leisure in Mountain Regions".
