Applications for study programs at Innsbruck University must be submitted online. Please follow the instructions via the following link
For further questions concerning your application, please approach the Admission Department
-
Am I eligible to apply for the master’s program in Strategic Management? ↓
Admission to the master's program Strategic Management requires the skill to combine a profound knowledge of strategy, organization, marketing, finance and accounting required for strategic management with knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods. It is assumed that this knowledge has been attained if both equivalence of a bachelor’s degree and qualitative requirements are fulfilled as follows:
1. Equivalence must be fulfilled with the applicant’s bachelor’s degree. This means that the completed bachelor’s degree must cover the following core areas (without taking the bachelor’s thesis into account):
- 92,5 ECTS credits in business studies and economics, therefrom at least 50 ECTS credits in business subjects
- A posteriori completion of the above mentioned criterion is not possible.
2. Qualitative entrance requirements must be fulfilled as follows:
- 10 ECTS credits in (management and financial) accounting
- 7,5 ECTS credits in marketing, retailing, strategic management, tourism/service management or public management
- 7,5 ECTS credits in mathematics and / or statistics
- These criteria can be completed on top / posteriori to the equivalent bachelor’s degree.
- Graduates of the Bachelor's Programme Management and Economics and the Diploma Programme International Economic and Business Studies at the University of Innsbruck automatically meet these qualitative admission requirements.
-
Currently, it is the policy of the department to interpret the admission criteria as a prerequisite for starting the master’s program. This means that all requirements must be fulfilled prior to the beginning of your studies.
-
Can all students that have been admitted by the admission department follow the master’s program? ↓
In general yes. However, please be informed that some modules of the master program in Strategic Management are consecutive. The following modules, for instance, require a positive completion of the module Strategic Management (1. Semester, currently only held in winter semesters): Strategic Marketing & Branding (1. Semester) and Market Research (1. Semester). To be eligible to take Organizational Behavior (2. Semester), all three modules from the 1st semester must be completed.
Without passing the module on Strategic Management, you will not be able to continue with the subsequent courses. The literature for the first course can be found at our department homepage
-
Is it possible to start the program in spring? ↓
In general, it is possible to enroll in the study program in spring and winter semesters. The actual intake / start of the program, however, is in October. In case you enroll yourself in spring, you may only take courses of the Interdisciplinary Skills (10 ECTS) module (3rd Semester).
-
Is working experience a requirement? ↓
No.
-
What should be attached to the application? ↓
For further information go to the homepage of the central study department .
-
Officially, you can enroll at the University of Innsbruck until 30th November. However, the courses in the master's program Strategic Management start right at the beginning of the semester (i.e., beginning of October) and are consecutive. This means that you need to be enrolled right by the beginning of October for participating in the courses.
We therefore recommend that you apply for the master's program by the beginning / middle of July at the latest. Above all, please take into account that the review of your documents takes time and the earliest possible application is only for your benefit.
-
When receiving the application, is a confirmation sent out to the students? ↓
Yes. The admission department is sending out an information letter.
-
Why does the admission notification take so long? ↓
Usually notifications are sent out within a period of 12 weeks. However, in February/March and September/October the admission department is confronted with truckloads of applications so it will take longer. Also, if your application is not complete, or the admission department needs to engage in further inquiries, the application procedure takes longer. To be on the safe side, send your application before the end of July.
