What is a populist?

ZIAS-lectures series on the topic of populism in the 2017/18 winter semester

The Center of Inter-American Studies at the University of Innsbruck (ZIAS) organises a lecture series on the topic: Populism in the Americas in the winter semester.

In November the renowned scientist Carlos de la Torre from the University of Kentucky will give two speeches on the topic. In addition, Ursula Prutsch from the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich will give us insights into the populism of Getúlio Vargas and Juan und Eva Perón (in German). At the conclusion in January, we are in particular looking forward to the speech from the famous political scientist Anton Pelinka  on the topic: Populism – Real Democracy” or “Dictatorship of the Majority (in German).
