For students at the University of Innsbruck, the Management Centre and the Medical University, the student ID serves as library card. You register in “BibSearch” with your LFU-, MCI- or MUI-user.

In our BibSearch research portal you can find approximately 90% of our print and online inventory, in particular articles from e-journals and e-books from all subject areas. The old stock is presented in our nominal catalogue. Our media can be used, borrowed or downloaded on site.

The digital library includes digitized prints from our historical holdings as well as monographs, university publications and magazines, but also “born-digital” resources from the University of Innsbruck. It is continuously updated.

Digitization for blind and visually impaired students: books or scripts are scanned by us and the text is recognized using OCR software. Texts are prepared in such a way that they contain headings, footnotes and the like that are marked as such.

We have a large selection of e-books, e-journals and databases from all specialist areas and publishers. Individual databases are only accessible to members of the university or within certain faculties. Information on access restrictions can be found in our database information system (DBIS).

Works that are free of copyright can be ordered for a fee via our eBooks on Demand and Reprint Service for digitization and then as a reprint.

Interlibrary loan is a paid service for the procurement of literature that is not available in Innsbruck. Media are sent to us from a library home or abroad and then passed on to you.

Remote access to databases, e-journals and e-books from outside of the university campus via VPN. It can be EXCLUSIVELY used by members of the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck. Please note the terms of use and the special regulations for legal databases.

In our reading rooms you can work in a relaxed and concentrated manner in a quiet environment, provided you book your place in advance. Printing, copying and scanning is possible with the equipment on site.

In our writing centre, we offer writing workshops and guided writing groups for students and researchers, and we work with instructors to develop elements for teaching writing in courses.

As a provincial library, we collect literature from and about the Tyrol.  It is our job to make as many works relating to the Tyrol available digitally. In cooperation with various university institutes we can  prepare Tyrolean-specific collections of materials.

Free one-day and fee-based long-term rental lockers are available in libraries. Please enquire on site.

Scientific final theses: Students of diploma, master or doctoral programmes at the University of Innsbruck are obliged to hand in their theses not only in print but also digitally in PDF-form.
