Bicycle Repair and Selling Operation

Education is significantly linked to mobility, but public transport is very expensive in Innsbruck when compared to the rest of Austria. This is why the ÖH Innsbruck organised a multi-day bicycle repair and selling operation in April 2016.  At three venues at the University of Innsbruck (Technik, GeiWi and SoWi) students could bring their bikes in each afternoon for service by the Bikerei employees. At the same time bikes could also be purchased from the Radmanufaktur ROTALIS, which offered second-hand bikes for the price of a semester ticket (€129.50). All bikes were soon sold, since the demand was huge. More than 500 students had their bikes repaired at one of the venues.

Europe Day 2016

Under the motto "We talk about Europe" the ÖH Innsbruck, the study centres for other countries (France, Italy), the Institute for Romance Philology at the University of Innsbruck, the administration of the province of Tyrol and the European Committee for the Regions, four parallel panel discussions were organised on the 9 Mai 2016. The occasion was the conference held by the Commission for Natural Resources and Agriculture for the European Committee of the Regions on the topics of "territorial solidarity", "tourism" and "measures against food waste", which took place in Innsbruck at the same time. Since topics of natural resources present a cross-section of current economic, social and political problems, four dialogues with the people were organised where students and other interested persons could discuss with European decision makers in their own language (German, Italian, French, Spanish). More than 150 persons visited the Europe Day.

Mental Health Days

"Studying" and "stress" go together. Demands on performance are increasing and consequently the rate of students with significant stress symptoms has risen considerably. This is why the ÖH Innsbruck organised a three-day interdisciplinary programme called the "Mental Health Days" from 17 – 19 May 2016. Altogether 37 events, which were held at the different campuses at the University of Innsbruck, comprised the programme: Yoga, outdoor trainings, nutrition advice and cooking courses, brain jogging, psychological lectures, lecture hall cinema and a lot more was used to introduce the students of the University of Innsbruck to healthier and effective ways of dealing with stress. The media showed great interest in the press release for the Mental Health Days, among others we had an interview enquiry from the Zukunftsbranchen education magazine.

Career Lounge with the Hofer KG

On 17 May the 5th ÖH Career Lounge of the Hofer KG (food trade) took place in cooperation with the University of Innsbruck. The event was attended by more than 120 persons and served to assist students in preparing or entering resp. into professional life.
