Jessica Pflüger studied sociology at the LMU Munich and the University of Copenhagen. In the course of her scientific work, she has been at the Technical University of Munich, Cardiff University, FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg, Ruhr-University Bochum and has researched in China and Hong Kong.
She received her PhD in 2012 at the FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg for an international comparative study on research practices by scientists (published under the title "Qualitative Sozialforschung und ihr Kontext. Wissenschaftliche Teamarbeit im internationalen Vergleich" , 2013, VS Verlag). In 2015, she become a assistant professor for qualitative methods in the social sciences at Ruhr-University Bochum. Pflüger has been Professor of Mesosociology (Social Institutions and Organizations) at the University of Innsbruck since October 2021.
Academic Awards
2013: Doctoral award from the STAEDTLER Foundation for outstanding dissertations at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg
2014: Dissertation prize of the Sociology of Labor and Industry section of the German Society for Sociology
2020: Maria Weber Grant for outstanding young scientists from all disciplines (awarded by the Hans Böckler Foundation)
