Since 1 October 2020 Andreas Steinmayr has been Professor of Empirical Economics at the Department of Public Finance. He graduated in Economics from Vienna University of Economics and Business and Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, in Sociology from the University of Vienna and he received his PhD in Economics from the University of St. Gallen.

Since 1 October 2020 Andreas Steinmayr has been Professor of Empirical Economics at the Department of Public Finance. He graduated in Economics from Vienna University of Economics and Business and Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, in Sociology from the University of Vienna and he received his PhD in Economics from the University of St. Gallen. From 2013 to 2015 he was a visiting scholar at Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. Prior to joining the Department of Public Finance at Innsbruck he was Assistant Professor at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. He is affiliate of the CESifo Research Network and the IZA Network and faculty affiliate of the Stanford/Zurich Immigration Policy Lab.

The research of Andreas Steinmayr focuses on questions in the fields of Labor Economics, Policy Evaluation, International Migration and Microeconometrics. The results of his research have been published in leading economics journals, such as American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, World Development, and Economics of Education Review.
