Retirement of Hannelore Weck-Hannemann

On 1 October 2020 Hannelore Weck-Hannemann has retired and is now Professor Emerita. Since 1994 she has been University Professor Ordinarius of Political Economy at the Department of Public Finance. Through her excellent work in research, teaching and administration she made many contributions to the University of Innsbruck.

Retirement of Hannelore Weck-Hannemann

On 1 October 2020 Hannelore Weck-Hannemann has retired and is now Professor Emerita. Since 1994 she has been University Professor Ordinarius of Political Economy at the Department of Public Finance.  Through her excellent work in research, teaching and administration she made many contributions to the University of Innsbruck: She was Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Statistics, Head of the Department of Public Finance and Member of the Senate. Moreover, she has participated in many scientific committees and associations beyond our university: She was, inter alia, president of the Austrian Accreditation Council, member of the University Council of the University of Klagenfurt and president of the Austrian Economic Association.

In addition to her numerous publications in the fields of political economy and environmental economics she played a significant role in strenghtening the research profile of our university. She was area leader of the Kplus centre “alpS-Centre for Natural Hazard Management” and speaker of the interdisciplinary research area “Mountain Regions”. For her scientific achievements she was awarded with the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria and with the Medal of Merit of the Region of Tyrol for Science and Research.
