Early Childhood Education

The work area addresses issues around education and care of children aged 0 to 6.

The focus of the work lies especially on the following areas: Educational quality in pre-schools, pedagogical concepts of preschools, professionalisation in early childhood education, leadership styles and leadership behaviour, work load and wellbeing of staff in early childhood education, inequality in early childhood education, relationships and interaction quality between preschool teachers, parents and children, and personality of children and preschool teachers.

Issues around education and care of children aged 0 to 6 are of great social and political importance. In light of this, the work area Early Childhood Education addresses current conditions, opportunities and restrictions of preschool institutions and families by using both quantitative and qualitative methods as well as by theoretically contributions.
