  • DIALER, Doris, Dr.

    A political scientist by training, she earned her M.A., and Ph.D from the University of Innsbruck and completed a Master of Management Program at the Universitas Indonesia Jakarta and Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta. Doris Dialer is political advisor of one of the Vice-Presidents of the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament and external lecturer at Innsbruck University and Danube University Krems, Austria. Her research interests focus on meta-issues of the European integration process, European policy fields, the European Parliament and the European public sphere. She is the author of Die EU-Präsidentschaft Frankreichs (2002), a study of European Presidencies; Die EU-Entwicklungspolitik im Brennpunkt (2007), showing future political aspects of EU's Development Policy; and co-author of "Das Europäische Parlament. Institution, Vision und Wirklichkeit" (2010).

    Born in 1953 in Alexandria (Egypt), study of Social work at the University of Alexandria, lives in Innsbruck since 1981. Studies in Political Science, Education, Spanish literature and contemporary history at the University of Innsbruck.

    Activist in the peace, renewal and reform movement in the Arab World.

  • FISCHER_Heinz

    Dr. Heinz Fischer, Univ.Prof. wurde 1938 in Graz geboren. Studierte Rechts- und Staatswissenschaften an der Universität Wien und promovierte dort 1961 zum Dr. jur.

    Er wurde 1978 als Universitätsdozent im Bereich Politikwissenschaft an der Universität Innsbruck habilitiert und 1994 zum Universitätsprofessor ernannt. Er war Mitbegründer der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Politikwissenschaft und der österreichischen Zeitschrift für Politikwissenschaft und ist Autor zahlreicher Bücher und Publikationen.

    Im Rahmen seiner politischen Tätigkeit war Dr. Heinz Fischer von 1963 bis 1975 Sekretär der Sozialdemokratischen Parlamentsfraktion. Von 1975 bis 1983 und von 1987 bis 1990 war er SPÖ-Klubobmann im Parlament. Von 1983 bis 1987 Bundesminister für Wissenschaft und Forschung und von 1990 bis 2002 Präsident des Nationalrates.

    Am 25. April 2004 wurde er zum Bundespräsidenten der Republik Österreich gewählt und 2010 mit 79% der Stimmen wiedergewählt.

    Außerdem war Dr. Heinz Fischer von 1984 bis 2004 Vizepräsident des Instituts für Höhere Studien und ist seit Juni 2016 auch Präsident des Verbandes Österreichischer Volkshochschulen.

    Lisa Lechner studied International Economics and Political Science at the University of Innsbruck and the Audencia Nantes. She wrote her dissertation entitled “The political, social, and ecological weight of preferential trade agreements“ at the University of Salzburg and the McGill University in Montréal.

    Since October 2017, Lisa Lechner works in the project TRADEPOWER supervised by Prof. Andreas Dür. The research interest is located in the area of Political Economy with a focus on trade policy and quantitative methods.

  • Mauerer Ingrid

    Ingrid Mauerer is a research associate at the Department of Political Science at the University of Munich (LMU). She graduated in political science, statistics, and sociology at the University of Málaga (Spain) and the LMU Munich, and received her Ph.D. in political science and statistics there in July 2016. Mauerer’s main research interests include voting behavior and party competition. Her articles have been published in Politische Vierteljahreschrift, West European Politics, and the Journal of Choice Modeling. Mauerer's main focus in teaching is on discrete choice analysis, quantitative methods and research design, as well as comparative politics and scientific writing.

    Julia Permoser was born in Rio de Janeiro/Brasil in 1980. She holds a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington/US and an MA in Advanced International Studies from the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna. From 2006 to 2010 she worked as a University Assistant (S1) at the Department for Political Science at Vienna University where she recently defended her PhD dissertation. Since 2010 she works as senior researcher in the project "Living Rooms: The Art of Mobilizing Belonging(s)", funded by the Arts & Sciences program of the WWTF and coordinated by the Department of Political Science of the University of Vienna. Her research focuses on migration, citizenship and anti-discrimination in the European Union. Julia is a member of the research group INEX – The Politics of Inclusion and Exclusion.

    Dr. Anja Opitz is Senior Researcher (International Relations) at the Academy for Civic Education and Research Tutzing. She received her doctorate in Political Science at the University of Passau, working on civil-military interaction within integrated CSDP crisis management. Dr. Opitz is a founding member of the Middle East and International Affairs Research Group (MEIA research) and editor of the IFIERpapers. She lectures at the European Security and Defence College in Brussels and the Institute for Political Science at the University of Innsbruck. Prior to joining the Academy in November 2013, she was Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Innsbruck and worked as a Political Advisor in the German Bundestag. In her research she focuses on Security Sector Reform, Geopolitics and the Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU. Her regional expertise includes the North African and the Balkan countries.

  • Plangger_Melanie

    Melanie Plangger studied Political Science and attended the Master program European Politics and Society at the University of Innsbruck. During her studies, she gained work experience at the Austrian Embassy in Budapest, the country office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Bratislava, the public administration in Tyrol and the European Parliament in Brussels.

    Between January and December 2015, she received a Doctoral Scholarship from the University of Innsbruck. Since January 2016 she works as a Scientific Project Assistant at the University of Innsbruck. Her dissertation project is currently funded by the Tyrolian Science Fund.

    Her main research interests lie in the fields of European Integration and Federalism. In particular, she investigates power dynamics and interactions between different levels of the European Union, the role of sub-national authorities and the scope and impact of transnational region-building. Her dissertation project examines the role, the strategies and the conditions of influence of sub-national authorities in the Alpine macro-region.

  • REITERER_Michael

    Michael Reiterer studied law at the University of Innsbruck (Dr. juris) and holds diplomas in international relations from the Johns Hopkins University/Bologna Center and the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. In 2005, he was appointed adjunct professor (Dozent) for international politics at the University of Innsbruck. Time permitting, he teaches at various universities and specializes in EU foreign policy, EU-Asia relations and interregionalism, areas in which he has published extensively.

    As an official of the European Union Dr. Reiterer is currently EU-Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, having previously served as Principal Advisor at the Asia and Pacific Department, European External Action Service (EEAS), Brussels (2012-2016); EU-Ambassador to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein (2007-2011), Minister/Deputy Head of the EU-Delegation to Japan (2002-2006) and ASEM (Asia Europe Meeting) Counselor (1998-2002).

    Before joining the EU in 1998 he was Minister-Counselor at the Austrian Permanent Representation to the EU/Brussels, Counselor at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the GATT, Co-chair of the Joint Experts Group at the OECD on trade and environment, WTO-panelist, Deputy Director General for European Integration and Trade Policy at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber as well as Austrian Deputy Trade Commissioner to West Africa and Japan.

    Jens Tenscher war von 2009 bis 2011 Senior-Post-Doc Mitarbeiter der Österreichischen Nationalen Wahlstudie AUTNES am Institut für Politikwissenschaft und seit mehreren Jahren Lehrbeauftragter am Institut für Politikwissenschaft. Er habilitierte sich 2013 im Fach Politikwissenschaft an unserer Fakultät.

    Florian Weiler is a lecturer in Quantitative Politics at the University of Kent, UK. His research is, on the one hand, focused on international environmental politics, e.g. the international UNFCCC negotiations, and on the role lobby organisations play in national and international policy-making processes. He holds a PhD from ETH Zurich, an MA from the Johns Hopkins University, and a Mag. phil. from the University of Innsbruck.

    David M. Wineroither completed his MA studies in political science, history and philosophy at the Universities of Innsbruck and Vienna in 2005. In 2008 he obtained his PhD (UofI). Following a fellowship with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) he joined UofI's PolSci Department as assistant professor for comparative politics in 2009.

    Currently he works as a postdoc at the HAS's Center for Social Sciences and the Department of Management at the National University for Public Service. In Addition, he's been a visiting Researcher at various universities and research institutions in Europa and Northern America, including University of Alberta, University of New Orleans und CEU Budapest.
