  • Erna_Appelt

    Erna Appelt received her PhD from the University of Vienna in 1984 und completed her Habilitation thesis in Political Science at the University of Innsbruck in 1995. She joined the Faculty of Political Science in 1989 und has been appointed as a Professor of Political Science in 2010. Her research interests include gender studies, welfare state analysis and the comparative research on European care regimes.

Ab 1993 Ausbildung in Psychoanalyse, seit 1997 Psychotherapeut und Psychoanalytiker in freier Praxis. Gründungsmitglied der Gesellschaft für Psychoanalyse und des Instituts für P.A. (Innsbruck). Forschungsschwerpunkte: sozialwissenschaftliche Theorien und politische Ideengeschichte, Religionspolitologie, Positivismus- und Systemkritik, (Denk-)Gewaltforschung, Setzungsanalyse und psychoanalytische Theoriebildung.

    geb. 1950; Studium der Volkswirtschaft, Wirtschaftspädagogik und Politikwissenschaft; von 1985 bis 2010: teilzeitbeschäftigter Bundeslehrer im Hochschuldienst; verschiedenste Tätigkeiten im Lehrerfortbildungsbereich; seit 1983 ständiger Lehrbeauftragter im Rahmen des Universitätslehrganges "Politische Bildung" - Master of Science"; seit 2004 Betreuer von Studienreisen zur Politischen Bildung in die neuen EU-Länder.

    Fritz Plasser received his PhD from the University of Vienna in 1974 and completed his Habilitation thesis in Political Science at the University of Innsbruck in 1986. Since 1993, he is professor of Political Science at the University of Innsbruck and was Dean of the School of Political Science and Sociology 2006-2013.

    In 2000/2001 he taught at the Graduate School of Political Management at the George Washington University in Washington, DC as Fahrenkopf-Mannat professor and was a Shorenstein Research Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. Fritz Plasser has authored, co-authored and edited more than 38 books, many of which – such as “Global Political Campaigning” (2000) – have been translated into several languages. His research interests include international trends in electoral competition, the political system of the United States, political communication, campaign research and election research and comparative political cultural studies.

  • RASHKOVA-GERBRANDS, Ekaterina, Dr.

    Ekaterina R. Rashkova is an Assistant Professor in Comparative Politics. She joined the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Innsbruck in spring 2013. Prior to that, she held a three-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Institute of Political Science at Leiden University (the Netherlands) and worked at Sussex University (United Kingdom). She studied political science at the University of Pittsburgh (United States) where she received her PhD with a dissertation entitled Political Learning and the Number of Parties: Why Age Matters. In 2011, her dissertation was distinguished with the Best Dissertation written by a CEE national award from UniCredit and Universities Foundation in Milan (Italy). She has previously studied Economics and Political Economy and Public Policy at Washington University in St. Louis (United States). She works in comparative politics and her research interests include party system development, electoral institutions, political parties and party regulation, and gender politics.

    1983 Doctorate's Degree (Studies on History, Contemporary History and Psychologie), University of Salzburg; since 1987 Lecturer and Guest Professor at the Universities of Linz, Salzburg, Vienna and Klagenfurt. Since 1999 Venia/Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Innsbruck.

    Since 1984 Researching and Project Managment (Jubiläumsfonds, Zukunftsfonds, FWF, Node Project). Writer and (Co-)Editor of 12 Books, half of them received inter/national awards (i.e. Bruno-Kreisky-Preis, US-Library Award).

    Key Research Fields: Research on Minorities (esp. Roma), Migration, Ethnicity; Feminist Research.

    Jodok Troy promovierte 2008 nach dem Studium der Geschichte, Katholischen Theologie und Politikwissenschaft an der Universität Innsbruck. Seit 2006 ist er Projektmitarbeiter und Lektor am Institut für Politikwissenschaft und seit 2008 Affiliated Scholar am National Defense College Stockholm. 2007 war er Visiting Research Fellow am Center for Peace and Security Studies der Georgetown University in Washington DC. Weiters leitet er diverse Drittmittelprojekte im Bereich von Militär und Gesellschaft. Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Internationale Beziehungen, Ethik und Religion in der internationalen Politik sowie Sicherheitspolitik und zivil-militärische Beziehungen.
