About

Conservatives, by definition, are engaged with the world of ideas and take seriously the place of higher education in shaping society and politics. Rightwing political figures in Europe, such as Marion Maréchal in France, and Viktor Orban in Hungary, have identified universities as a central object of action, and are mobilizing higher education projects that link radicalized Christian Democracy with far-right politics. Linking her earlier research on the political sociology of conservatives in France and their "anti-gender" activism as a form of epistemic politics to trends in far-right higher education projects in Europe, the talk will piece together how conservatism and far-right radicalism are merging in the space of intellectual production in Europe.
