Project 13:
The role of L-type Ca²⁺ channels in adult neurogenesis

We will specify the importance of L-type Ca²⁺ channels in neural stem cells and adult neurogenesis. This will include analysis of the expression of different isoforms and functionally different splice variants and determine the consequences of their specific absence or stimulation on neurogenesis. We also determine to which extend neurogenic and gliogenic processes promoting functional repair take place around amyloid plaques in brains with Alzheimer's Disease.
