Prof. Florian Überall, Dr. Johanna Gostner (Medical University of Innsbruck)

Univ. Prof. Dr. Florian Überall studied microbiology and biochemistry at the Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck. He received his habilitation from the Medical University of Innsbruck in 2000 and was appointed as Professor of Medicinal Biochemistry. He is familiar with all aspects of molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, HTS method development as well as validation of signal transduction in complex cellular matrices. Currently, he is the leader of a workgroup for nutritional biochemistry and nutrigenomics.

Prof. Überall and his team will cover pharmacological aspects of this project, i.e. search for bioactive constituents using in-vitro and in-vivo assays.

Collaborations - international

Dr. Andreas Albert (Helmholtz Zentrum, Munich)

Dr. Albert studied physics at the universities of Augsburg and Munich. He did his PhD thesis on optical remote sensing of shallow water parameters at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Hamburg and December 2004 he is a scientist at the Research Unit Environmental Simulation at the Helmholtz Zentrum München, where he is responsible for operation of the phytotron facility. He is familiar with spectral radiometry and optical sensors, and his main research interests are the biological effects of UV radiation.

In cooperation with Dr. Albert sun simulation experiments will be performed.
