Rocío Cachada Dibuja is University Assistant at the Unit for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Innsbruck, where she currently works on her PhD research project “Communication for Peace, Conflicts Transformation and the Transformation Dimension in the Iberian Ecovillages Movement”. Previously she was University Assistant at the Department of Media, Society and Communication and Technical Assistant at the Department of Mechatronics at the University of Innsbruck and project coordinator at FREIRAD Freies Radio Innsbruck. 

Born in Seville, Spain, Rocío Cachada Dibuja holds a degree in Communication Studies from the Open University of Catalonia and a degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Seville. She wrote her diploma thesis on the subject of “Appropriate Information and Communication Technologies for Human Development” and participated in different academic exchange programs at the University of Arts, Sciences and Communication in Santiago de Chile, at the University of Porto (Portugal) and at the National Inst. for Applied Science in Lyon (France).  

Cachada Dibuja worked several years as project coordinator and communication consultant in the field of communication for social change in Chile, Guatemala, Morocco and Austria, especially in international cooperation projects with community media. Particularly interesting for her professional development was the two-year work she carried out at the World Assoc. of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) in Guatemala with a special focus on food sovereignty, gender and Maya worldview.
