Kaitlin Appleby is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Organization and Learning at the University of Innsbruck. Originally from the state of Colorado in the USA, her research in Innsbruck has been focused on gender inequality and specifically on the use of gender stereotypes in the workplace. The social and institutional mechanisms maintaining the gender wage gap as well as the impact of human resource management practices on women and minorities are of particular interest to her. Kaitlin’s theoretical perspective continues to evolve but is rooted in neo-institutional theory. When not reading for her dissertation, she enjoys horseback riding, cross-country skiing, cooking, and traveling.
