Electronics for medical systems

Another research focus is electronics for medical systems, which contributes to a quality improvement of modern medicine concepts (e.g. telemedicine). We are researching novel concepts such as Wireless Body Area Networks (BANs), where sensors and actuators are attached to the human body. BANs are used, for example, for recording body functions such as blood pressure or ECGs. Amongst  other things, the collected data can lead to a faster and more efficient medical diagnosis. Moreover, it can help to prevent diseases.
We are also researching the upcoming generation of cochlear implants in order to improve the current security and runtime. Further, those advanced cochlea implants have the potential to improve the voice quality for the patient.
