Formula Student

Formula Student is a major project of University students in which an electric racing car is constructed under the name of  "Campus Tirol Motorsport" - CTM.
The challenge is to develop a prototype according to the rules of the international competition "Formula Student". Student teams from around the world compete against each other in this design competition with self-constructed and manufactured racing cars in various disciplines. In order to meet the high complexity of such an electric racing car, the tasks are subdivided into the subsections of drive unit/electrical engineering, suspension, chassis/ aerodynamics, telemetry and management. The aim of the CTM team is to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience. In addition, a communication platform between students, university and companies should be created by close cooperation with companies from the industry. The existing potential in the field of electrical engineering at the Campus Technik of the University of Innsbruck facilitated the decision for an electric drive. The electrical solution not only convinces with its clean, powerful and efficient technology, but can also contribute to a climate-friendly future by integrating renewable energy sources. Resources needed for the project are gained through sponsorship and cooperation with companies as well as universities.
