  • 1997-2003 Diploma in Biology at the University of Vienna, Austria

My research focuses on mechanisms that maintain biodiversity. The core topics of my work are metacommunity dynamics, eco-evolutionary dynamics, and environmental change. Using microcosm and mesocosm experiments with aquatic protists, I have analysed if dispersal and evolution can rescue species from extinction in changing environments. Goals in my ongoing projects are to study evolutionary processes in natural phytoplankton communities, and to understand how biotic interactions affect the responses of organisms to environmental change.
