The University of Innsbruck was founded in 1669 and, with more than 27.000 students and more than 4.000 employees, is today the largest and most important research and educational institution in Western Austria.
It is the state university for Tyrol, Vorarlberg, South Tyrol and Liechtenstein. At its 16 faculties, scientists conduct research and teach in a wide variety of fields: humanities, natural sciences, economics and social sciences, theology, law, technical sciences and architecture.
