Biography

Domenico Rosani is a research and teaching associate in the Department of Italian Law at the University of Innsbruck, Sector of Criminal Law. He previously worked for the EU Fundamental Rights Agency, the EU's centre of expertise providing human rights advice to Union's institutions and national governments. There, Domenico was part of the Sector for the Rights of the Child. At Innsbruck University he teaches legal methodology and criminal law.

After studying Italian law in Innsbruck and Rotterdam (the Netherlands), he worked at the University of Innsbruck and as an intern at the Common Representation of the European Region Tirol-Alto Adige/Südtirol-Trentino in Brussels. He also worked as a law clerk at the Courts of Innsbruck and Bolzano/Bozen. In addition, he was involved in several projects of scientific and social nature. Since 2013 he has been a member of the Italian Chamber of Journalists. He is a columnist for local news outlets.

His doctoral project at the Universities of Innsbruck and Padua (Italy) deals with the criminal relevance of children's activities on the Internet from a comparative, international and European law perspective. He has presented his research results at several international conferences, including at the University College Dublin, Universiteit Leiden (the Netherlands), Università La Sapienza (Italy) and at the International Conference on Computers, Privacy and Data Protection 2019 in Brussels.

He is a member of the Universities Network for Children in Armed Conflict's Working Group in charge of updating the EU's Guidelines on promoting compliance with international humanitarian law, in cooperation with the Italian Foreign Ministry (chair: Prof. Fausto Pocar). He is also a member of the international research project "Natural Hazards in the Mountain Environment: Risk Management and Responsibility" (2020-2022).

For his contribution 'We’re All in This Together’. Actors Cooperating in Enhancing Children’s Rights in the Digital Environment after the GDPR (in Hallinan/Leenes/Gutwirth/De Hert (eds.), Data Protection and Privacy: Data Protection and Democracy, Hart, Oxford 2020) he has been awarded the University's Best Student Paper Award 2020.
