The Autumn School offers the opportunity for academic and professional development on international human rights protection and international humanitarian law. Emphasis is placed on the protection of children in armed conflict and relevant gender issues.

The Autumn School emphasizes a balance between theory and practice with a multidisciplinary approach on the part of participating scholars and practitioners. It is organized by the Universities Network for Children in Armed Conflict with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among the speakers: Prof. Fausto Pocar (former President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia), Prof. Roja Fazaeli (Trinity College Dublin), H.E. Mr. Gianluca Alberini (deputy director general for political affairs and security, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Prof. Ahmed Alfatlaw (Kufa University, Iraq), Prof. Jan Marie Fritz (University of Cincinnati, USA), Prof. Laura Guercio (Università di Perugia, Italy), various representatives of UNICEF and the International Committee of the Red Cross, and major-general Stefano Del Col (Head of Mission and Force Commander of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon - UNIFIL). The School will be opened by H.E. Ms. Virginia Gamba, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.

Two lecturers of our Faculty will participate in the School. On the one hand, Prof. Andreas Th. Müller (European and International Law Department) will take part in the round table on the impact of the pandemic. On the other hand, Mr. Domenico Rosani (Italian Law Department, Criminal Law Section) will give a lecture on the international legal and policy framework on children’s rights.

Costs: Participation is free of charge for participants belonging to the University of Innsbruck.

Registration deadline: September 20. First come, first served.

Duration: 40 hours (ten days of 4 hours each, 2.30-6.30pm CET).

Requirements: Participants ideally have prior knowledge of law, political science, international relations, or sociology, or are professionals in these fields. Having already completed a degree is not a mandatory requirement.

Il corso permette di approfondire la propria conoscenza dei meccanismi internazionali di tutela dei diritti umani e del diritto umanitario da una prospettiva sia accademica che professionale. Il focus è posto sulla protezione dei bambini nei conflitti armati e sulle relative questioni di genere.

Organizzata dalla rete accademica ‘Universities Network for Children in Armed Conflict’ con il sostegno del Ministero degli Affari Esteri italiano, il corso propone un approccio multidisciplinare al tema, considerando sia aspetti teorici sia considerazioni pratiche.

Tra i relatori si annoverano il prof. Fausto Pocar (già presidente del Tribunale penale internazionale per l'ex-Jugoslavia), la prof.ssa Roja Fazaeli (Trinity College Dublin), S.E. min. pl. Gianluca Alberini (vice direttore generale per gli affari politici e di sicurezza, Ministero degli Affari Esteri), il prof. Ahmed Alfatlaw (Università di Kufa, Iraq), la prof.ssa Jan Marie Fritz (Università di Cincinnati, Iraq), la prof.ssa Laura Guercio (Università di Perugia, Italia), vari rappresentanti dell’UNICEF e del Comitato Internazionale della Croce Rossa, e il maggiore generale Stefano Del Col (capo missione e comandante della Forza interinale delle Nazioni Unite in Libano - UNIFIL). La Scuola sarà aperta da S.E. Virginia Gamba, Rappresentante Speciale del Segretario Generale ONU per i bambini e i conflitti armati.

La Facoltà di Giurisprudenza di Innsbruck parteciperà alla Scuola tramite due docenti. Da un lato, il prof. Andreas Th. Müller (Istituto di diritto europeo e diritto internazionale) prenderà parte alla tavola rotonda sull'impatto della pandemia. Dall’altra, Domenico Rosani (Istituto di diritto italiano, sezione per il diritto penale) terrà una lezione sul quadro giuridico e politico internazionale sui diritti dei minori.

Costi: la partecipazione è gratuita per i partecipanti appartenenti all'Università di Innsbruck.

Scadenza per iscriversi: 20 settembre, secondo la regola del “primo arrivato, primo servito”.

Durata: 40 ore (dieci giorni di 4 ore ciascuno, 14.30-18.30 CET).

Requisiti: i partecipanti possiedono preferibilmente conoscenze pregresse in diritto, scienze politiche, relazioni internazionali o sociologia, o lavorano in questi campi. Non è tuttavia richiesto di avere già conseguito una laurea.

Die Herbstschule bietet die Möglichkeit, sich akademisch und beruflich zum internationalen Menschenrechtschutz und dem humanitären Völkerrecht weiterzubilden. Das Augenmerk liegt auf dem Schutz von Kindern in bewaffneten Konflikten und auf einschlägigen Genderfragen.

Die Herbstschule setzt auf ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis zwischen Theorie und Praxis und einen multidisziplinären Ansatz seitens der teilnehmenden WissenschaftlerInnen und Fachleuten. Organisiert wird sie vom Universities Network for Children in Armed Conflict in Zusammenarbeit mit dem italienischen Außenministerium.

Unter den Vortragenden zählt die Herbstschule u.a. Univ.-Prof. Fausto Pocar (ehem. Präsident des Internationalen Strafgerichtshofes für das ehemalige Jugoslawien), Prof.in Roja Fazaeli (Trinity College Dublin), S.E. Dr. Gianluca Alberini (Stellvertretender Generaldirektor für politische Angelegenheiten und Sicherheit, italienisches Außenministerium), Univ.-Prof. Ahmed Alfatlaw (Kufa University, Irak), Univ.-Prof.in Jan Marie Fritz (University of Cincinnati, USA),  Prof.in Laura Guercio (Università di Perugia, Italien), verschiedene VertreterInnen des UNICEF und des Internationalen Kommitees des Roten Kreuzes, sowie Generalmajor Stefano Del Col (Missionsleiter und Befehlshaber der UN-Interimstruppe in Libanon – UNIFIL). Die Herbstschule wird von I.E. Virginia Gamba, Sonderbeauftragte des UN-Generalsekretärs für Kinder und bewaffnete Konflikte, eröffnet.

Die Rechtswissenschaftliche Fakultät der Universität Innsbruck nimmt an der Herbstschule durch zwei Vortragende teil. Einerseits wird Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andreas Th. Müller vom Institut für Europa- und Völkerrecht am runden Tisch zum Einfluss der Pandemie teilnehmen. Andererseits wird Herr Domenico Rosani vom Institut für Italienisches Recht, Bereich Strafrecht, zum internationalen Menschenrechtsrahmen zum Schutz von Kindern referieren.

Kosten: Für der Universität Innsbruck angehörende TeilnehmerInner ist die Teilnahme kostenlos.

Teilnahmevoraussetzungen: Die TeilnehmerInnen verfügen idealerweise über Vorkenntnisse in den Bereichen Rechtswissenschaften, Politikwissenschaften, internationale Beziehungen oder Soziologie oder sind in diesen Bereichen beruflich tätig sein. Ein bereits abgeschlossenes Studium ist keine zwingende Voraussetzung.
