At the University of Innsbruck I will...

... teach great students, speak with great colleagues, and think great thoughts (I hope)!

 

What surprised me about Innsbruck was...

... what an even more friendly city it is in reality, even more than I had heard it to be. Tyrolean hospitality to visitors is remarkable and that tradition runs rich and deep across the university, the city and the region.

 

For my students I give the following advice...

Don't be afraid to think, to question, to challenge; always in the best tradition of tolerance of difference and different opinion. These university years go by quickly and will change you more than you know, so enjoy every moment, try to learn something new, and about yourself, every day; and show kindness to those around you – you always know more than you give yourself credit for and others can learn from you just as much as you can learn from them.

 

From Innsbruck I will take home with me...

... a memory full of warm welcomes, friendly smiles, generous colleagues, attentive students; lasting memories of a university city with a heart and a soul, rich in heritage and rightly proud of its history; a knowledge that, at the UIBK, in Innsbruck and in the Tyrol, one is never amongst strangers and always amongst friends. I will take home with me the hope that I will return to Innsbruck again, soon.
