Housing

Due to the extremely difficult housing situation in the first semester, we highly recommend you to come to Innsbruck for the second semester. Ski and winter sport enthusiasts know that snow conditions will be good and most ski resorts will be open until mid-, end of April.

The Austrian Academic Exchange Service (OeAD) will do its best to organize a room for you although only a limited number of rooms (especially single rooms) are available. ERASMUS and other official exchange programme students have priority; other students can only be accommodated as long as rooms are available.

The online application is available here: http://housing.oead.at/en/applyhere. A non-refundable application fee (EUR 35) is charged, you will then get a room-offer from the OeAD. You cann accept that offer by paying the deposit.
Please apply as soon as possible! The rooms are allocated “first come first served”.

There are double and single study-rooms; kitchen and bathroom are usually shared. Rooms are let by complete semesters only and cannot be quit during the semester. If you arrive later or leave earlier, you must pay for the whole period you applied for. For organizational reasons students coming for the winter semester must also pay for the month of February.

After reserving a room please observe the times and information sent to you by the students hostel. Plan your arrival according to these times, if possible, and announce your arrival early enough either by telephone or e-mail.

Self-organized Private Accommodation

Renting rooms or apartments on the free market is very difficult and expensive especially when you wish to rent for less than 12 months and need furnished accommodation. According to the Tyrolean regional manager of the Austrian Union of Real Estate a one-room flat costs between € 400 and 500 per month. Be careful before you pay a deposit on private accommodation.

On the of our Students Union www.oehweb.at > Services  >Wohnungsbörse you will find information about accommodation.

Another possibility is to search on the internet or by asking Erasmus students of your university already in Innsbruck especially about flat sharing ("Wohngemeinschaft" or "WG"). In the local newspaper Tiroler Tageszeitung and in the Innsbruck Stadtblatt advertisements for flats/rooms can be found. there are a lot of different facebook groups where you might find something, try "Innsbruck" and "Wohnung*". Be careful before you pay a deposit on private accommodation.
