Due to the extremely difficult housing situation in the first semester, we highly recommend you to come to Innsbruck for the second semester if you come for one semester only. Ski and winter sport enthusiasts know that snow conditions will be good and most ski resorts will be open until mid-, end of April.

The Austrian Academic Exchange Service (OeAD) will do its best to organize a room for you although only a limited number of rooms (especially single rooms) are available. Erasmus and other official exchange programme students have priority; other students can only be accommodated as long as rooms are available.

The online application is available here: https://www.oeadstudenthousing.at/en/. A non-refundable application fee (about EUR 35) is charged, you will then get a room-offer from the OeAD. You can accept that offer by paying the deposit.

You will also be asked to upload a letter of acceptance at some point. Should you not have received one yet, you can upload your "Willkommen in Innsbruck!" email as a substitute.

Please apply as soon as possible! The rooms are allocated “first come, first served”.

There are double and single study-rooms; kitchen and bathroom are usually shared. Rooms can be rented for complete semesters only and cannot be quit during the semester. If you arrive later or leave earlier, you must pay for the whole period you applied for. For organizational reasons students coming for the winter semester must pay for the month of February.

After reserving a room please observe the times and information sent to you by the students dormitory. Plan your arrival according to these times, if possible, and announce your arrival early enough.

Self-organized Private Accommodation

Renting rooms or apartments on the free market is very difficult and expensive especially when you wish to rent for less than 12 months and need furnished accommodation. According to the Tyrolean regional manager of the Austrian Union of Real Estate a one-room flat costs between € 400 and 500 per month. Be careful before you pay a deposit on private accommodation.

On the website of our Students' Union www.oehweb.at > Services  >Wohnungsbörse you will find information about accommodation.

Another possibility to find accommodation is to search on the internet or by asking former Erasmus students of your university about flat sharing ("Wohngemeinschaft" or "WG"). In the local newspaper Tiroler Tageszeitung and in the Innsbruck Stadtblatt advertisements for flats/rooms can be found. There are a lot of different facebook groups where you might find something, try "Innsbruck" and "Wohnung*". Be careful before you pay a deposit on private accommodation.
