Markus Herrmann (Bakk. phil., MA) has been part of the Department of Educational Science since June 2016. As pre-doc he is member of the chair “Generation and Education” at the University of Innsbruck. His research focuses are on the interface between violence and educational research as well as social structure analysis.

He earned a master’s degree in sociology at the University of Vienna. His research specializations included “social structure and social integration”, quantitative empirical social research, as well as the sociology of anti-Semitism. The master thesis covered group-focused enmity in the stage of early adolescence. While studying he completed internships e. g. at the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Vienna and the Vienna University Children’s Office (“KinderuniWien”). He was employed at a number of organizations, among them most notably the Austrian Broadcasting corporation, where he, in the function of Cultural Mediator, was responsible for sensitizing people of all ages to the idea of taking a critical-emancipatory approach in their daily dealings with the TV medium.
