Luca Pangrazzi

Luca obtained his PhD at the Medical University of Innsbruck in the Programme "Aging of biological communication systems" in 2017. He worked as a PhD student and afterwards as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Biomedical Aging Research from April 2013 until October 2019 in the immunology group of Prof. Grubeck-Loebenstein. During this time, he investigated age-related impairments in the maintenance of immunological memory in the bone marrow. His PhD was supported by a DOC Stipendium obtained from the Austrian Academy of Sciences, a TWF grant and a Swarowski Research grant. Furthermore, his PhD thesis has been awarded with a "PhD thesis in Immunology" prize by the Austrian Society for Allergology and Immunology. After a 3-month experience at the Ludwig Cancer Institute, University of Lausanne (Switzerland), he worked for 3 years at the Center for Mind/Brain Sciences, University of Trento (Italy). Here Luca investigated the impact of immune system dysfunction and pro-inflammatory conditions on autistic-related behaviors using mouse models. His study was supported by a postdoctoral fellowship obtained from "Fondazione Umberto Veronesi", an Autism Research Institute (ARI) grant and a Starting grant from the University of Trento. Since February 2023 he is back to the Institute, and he will investigate cellular senescence in T cells and the impact of senescence on vaccinations in the elderly.
